Resurgent Medvedev Wins First Championship in Over Two Years

19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial trophy for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is his first title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

His defensive approach and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his initial tour victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet defended four early opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
